Welcome to my website, a home-place dedicated to the history of my McCallister family and other ancestral lines.
My McCallisters originated in the rocky-hilled Kintyre peninsula of western Scotland, and lived for a time in Ulster area of Ireland before coming to the American colonies.
Arriving probably in Pennsylvania, they later moved down the Great Wagon Road through the lovely Shenandoah valley, and settled finally in Lincoln County North Carolina before the American Revolution.
My great great grandfather, James McAlister married Jane Dellinger there on 20 August 1843. Thus the story begins.
My McAlisters have been designated as J-45 by the Clan McAlister of America. We are related by blood to and share identical DNA markers with the J-26, the J-39 and the GW06 Lines. Only the how and when are missing!
I hope you enjoy this site, as well as the links. And be sure to sign the guest book.
The Tartan
(green, red, blue and white plaid) that marks certain links within the site, is the most common of 4 officially accepted
tartans for the Clan McAlister. So if you are thinking about buying a kilt, make sure it is in this pattern!
